Scott reappears in February 2005 when Kane visits him in prison after learning their father Gus visited Scott, revealing details of the robbery he framed Kane for. Scott refuses to tell him anything at first but agrees as long as Kane's lawyer Morag Bellingham helps him with his own upcoming appeal. Kane stands trial and Scott is called as a witness but immediately lies on the stand, claiming Kane asked him to lie under oath, destroying Kane's defence. It emerges that he and Kane were involved in a service station robbery and held Tasha Andrews hostage.

Ash and Heath find Kyle and stem his bleeding, before Heath helps him to the exit. He encourages Kyle not to give up when Kyle wonders what he has to live for, as Isla has not visited in months. Heath gets Kyle outside, where he is handcuffed and Kyle is put into an ambulance.

He tries to talk her down, but Heather pulls Marilyn up onto the ledge of a balcony and attempts to reach an open window. The masonry crumbles and Heather falls to the floor below, but she is not killed. Marilyn leaves as an enraged Heather flies into a rant, yelling that her friends know the truth and will never look at her the same way again.

Gunno opens all the doors, allowing the prisoners from general population to enter the protection unit. Meanwhile, Ash and Nate go to the back of the prison, where Ash gets inside through a secret entrance that Gunno used for drug trafficking. Heath and Bianca are forced out of the crawlspace when it fills with smoke and Ash finds them. He guides them to the exit, but Heath realises he cannot leave Kyle behind and tells Ash to get Bianca out.

The plot sees Trevor Gunson instigate a prison riot, as he tries to kill Kyle Braxton and his brother Heath Braxton , who is visiting along with his wife Bianca Scott . Ewing said the plot was about survival and he found it to be darker than regular episodes of Home and Away. All or Nothing was shot on-location at Maitland Gaol and Parramatta Correctional Centre, a setting that Ewing described as claustrophobic. The special received a positive response from critics, and Colin Vickery of The Daily Telegraph dubbed it "the bloodiest episode ever seen of the hit Aussie soapie".
Lily and Gypsy return several months later to visit Irene following her cancer diagnosis and help look after her. Gypsy's new boyfriend Mark Gilmour arrives and it is clear that he and Lily do not get on very well. Mark later suggests sending Lily to boarding school, but Gypsy disagrees with the idea. Gypsy and Mark's relationship ends after Lily learns Gypsy had sex with Liam Murphy and tells Mark. Irene tells Gypsy to leave and she and Lily return to Queensland. Flynn Saunders, played by Martin Dingle-Wall, made his first appearance on 13 July 2001.

Paris is able to save the school after Donald is given some incriminating information about the department's incompetence from Brett Egan . He grows closer to Irene and at the end of a date, he wants to kiss her but backs out. Donald is reinstated and Irene decides she cannot be with Paris as he is going to leave and both find it difficult to be around one another. They both attend the Summer Bay 150th anniversary dinner on board the Mirgini, but end up caught in a storm and are shipwrecked on an island where they share a kiss.
Around the time of his debut, Elmaloglou began watching repeats of Home and Away starring his sister, Rebekah who played Sophie Simpson. "It is so funny watching Rebekah because she looks completely different. I have been told that when I was a baby and we were out together as a family, people would go up to Bec and ask her if I was her baby, after she had the baby on the show". Decades later, when he thinks he is going to die following an explosion, Alf tells Roo that Martha did not drown, as Roo had been led to believe, and is still alive. Martha comes to Summer Bay House and meets Ryder Jackson , who asks if she wants to rent a caravan from Alf. She leaves, but later returns and comes face-to-face with Alf and then Roo.
Martha appears in flashbacks when Bobby Simpson reads her diary entries while searching for leads on her biological parents. It is revealed that Martha knew that Alf's sister, Morag Bellingham was Bobby's mother and subsequently had her adopted out to Al Simpson (George Leppard; Terence Donovan) and Doris Simpson. Bree is Summer Bay's newest doctor, who takes over running the local hospital's emergency department, following the departure of Logan Bennett . Godwin said her character is "ready for a fresh start" and finds the Bay to be the perfect place to do that. Justin Harp of Digital Spy said Bree was billed as "laid-back, kind and caring", but she is hiding something beneath her "bubbly demeanour". Godwin also described her as having a "heart of gold" and being "a surfer chick".
